User Question Received by E-Mail:

Is it possible to use the Crystal Ball Project Macro with OpenProj rather than MS Project?

Crystal Ball User

Dear Crystal Ball User:

Unfortunately you can’t run the macro in OpenProject because it requires access to VBA libraries which are not part of the open source solution. To my knowledge, all the Monte-Carlo and Discreet Simulation tools on the market work with either Project are you working on, maybe I can recommend a solution?

Hi Eric :

Thank you for replying to my question.

Rather than purchase MS Project and the ability to simulate it, I wondered if I could use OpenProj and the Crystal Ball macro.

I’m not a programmer, but does it make sense to try and make available the vba libraries using the crystal ball macro?

Hi Crystal Ball User:

Actually its because the VBA libraries are proprietary to Microsoft… If you do a lot of project planning, it may be worth looking into investing in MS Project… it offers far more expansion and add-in capability… Open project is nice when intend to use it strictly out of the box.

I hope this helps!

Eric
